Elucidare in ancient Latin can be defined as enlightenment or illumination of oneself. The concept of this piece was to not create or design a beautiful object, but only to bring to light the beauty that already resides within the bare material itself.
The construction of the luminaire was to be simple and purely structural. 3 threaded rods extend throughout the piece. Points at which the weathered log was cut a washer and bolt was used to separate and allow adjustability. During the process, the wood split naturally. This split allowed light to pass through. This is a celebration of the raw material and the unpredictable process of craft.
