Interlive is an intergenerational housing cooperative community in Island view, Detroit that is constructed atop a Community Land Trust (CLT). This proposal seeks to develop a community ecology, meaning a network of holistic systems supporting each other. Through the lens of housing, Interlive takes the opportunity to develop a community that ensures longevity, affordability, and well-being all while addressing environmental systems that remediate or alleviate local economic and sustainability related hardships.
Intergenerational affordable housing allows the architecture to consist of a wide variety of people with different needs and wants. The varying ages and size of the families as well as the overarching renters burden is very prominent in this historic area. This means one major goal was to achieve long-term intergenerational affordable housing solutions.
